About the Artist

Chessy L Ricca

Chessy Ricca is a born and raised Palm Beach County, Florida native. Her art is inspired by the hidden colors and beauty of the state of Florida as well as her childhood. Early on, Chessy became involved in local history which developed into an urge to paint Florida's history. One of Chessy's goals as an artist is to capture scenes of Florida's past on canvas that have not otherwise been given a visual representation.

Oil painting is Chessy's main medium of choice. Her way of capturing inspiration is using her Canon camera to walk through the wilds of Florida searching for her next painting. With Florida's unique beauty being destroyed daily by over development, Chessy feels that one of the best and most creative ways of preserving the past is through art. Hopefully before Palm Beach County is lost to new sceneries, they can be captured through painting for the public to enjoy.

Chessy holds a bachelors degree in Fine Art from Florida Atlantic University and is currently working on completing her Master's in Florida History from the University of South Florida. And when Chessy is not painting, she works doing land management for Palm Beach County and finding any excuse to be in the woods of Western PBC. On top of that, she works in the art world at a local gallery in Martin County.
